Thanks to Liza4Lov for calling my attention to this article!
I will let the employees at 90809 know about the meeting.
Many USPS workers were unaware of this issue brought before City Council recently.
PERSONALLY: I think
those 48 jobs could stay there. Redefine their positions as the New Media Division - in addition to taking passport
photos set customers in a room where they can converse witha dying relative in a faraway hospital. Conduct Family Reunions
and CONFERENCE CALLS. It's free to do this, the USPS can be the conduit (again space = $$$). Rent and Lease space
to other US gov't satellite offices.... Provide computers (no coffee service) like they have in Las Vegas in the lobby.
Establish SAME DAY EXPRESS MAIL (local deliveries for established accounts in great standing)... Ensure destinations
like CSULB are in the SUNDAY Express Mail service areas... "Employ" twitter as a tracking and communication tool.
Change some of the positions into area security guards (especially if the area becomes home to the homeless). Get Western
Union's business if they can't keep the lid on bogus money orders...Yes I have plenty more ideas.
The 90809/Redondo
LOCATION is very important to downtown Long Beach businesses who NO LONGER deal with 90801. (Improve Customer Relations
at existing branches).
